Our Young People Matter

Publish Date: June 10, 2020

Dear friends,

For far too long, the voices of Black, Indigenous and People of Color have been minimized, undervalued and silenced.

For 50 years Pathfinders has provided a safe haven for the most vulnerable and marginalized youth in Milwaukee. A place created to honor the voices of young people – often who have been cast out, exploited or made to feel unworthy.

Our ongoing social justice work is grounded in the recognition of systemic violence and oppression of those considered “other.” Today and every day, Pathfinders stands with those in the black community who have experienced systemic violence, oppression and marginalization in Milwaukee and across the country.

We prioritize and amplify our young people’s voices and remain here for them as a safe and inclusive space. We are here to empower youth to share their stories and visions for change. We unconditionally love them and stand alongside them. We are here to listen. We are here to continue to advocate for systems change. We urge you to join us.

“When I felt at my lowest moments in life, my worker made sure I knew I mattered and that there was still somebody out there who cares about me.” – Pathfinders youth
